Cégep à distance updates its systems through an agreement with Ricoh Canada

Montréal, May 7, 2014 – Cégep à distance is pleased to announce that it has signed an agreement with Ricoh Canada to modernize its workflow systems and institute a digital exam correction platform.

“This process is part of the overhaul of our digital environments. The goal is to meet our management needs more effectively and improve all our student services,” explained Cégep à distance Director Louis-René Dessureault. “In this specific instance, Cégep à distance will optimize workflows related to taking and correcting exams. This system upgrade is a key part of our positioning plan to build up our foundation in order to meet the growing challenges of distance education.”

The new document management platform that Ricoh will set up, Laserfiche, offers better workflow management for exam correction, among other benefits. In practical terms, the exams will be sent electronically to the tutors, who will correct them online and return them to Cégep à distance by the same route.

“Cégep à distance has about 50 examination sites across Québec,” confirmed Benoit Morin, a coordinator at Cégep à distance. “The new system will improve transit time for the exams and, by extension, student services. It also makes better use of public funds.”

Finally, thanks to Laserfiche, several administrative forms will go digital, automating several processes and reducing paper consumption at Cégep à distance.
